Cooking is not my day job, just a back-burner obsession. I’m one of those people who is always thinking about my next meal. I’ve been known to lay awake at night, combining ingredients and planning menus in my head. A Sunday trip to the farmer’s market, followed by an afternoon in the kitchen, is the closest thing I have to church, and I can’t think of anything that makes me happier than sharing a home-cooked meal with people I love.
So, this is a place to gather my food thoughts in one place–a great recipe I want to remember, that inspiring combination of flavors from the new restaurant I just tried, or my favorite farmer’s market find. It’s a notebook of flavors that linger in my mind, like something simmering away for hours on the stove. And who knows–maybe once I’ve written it down, I’ll sleep better.
Must be genetic- I lie awake thinking about eating it !
I love that you are doing this! It is so nice to hear about all the deliciousness but also to read your writing. Can you please share that yummy yummy salad that you made last November for cooking club Thanksgiving? I think there were hazelnuts and pancetta involved and other things delicious! Also do you ever read smittenkitchen.com? It has been my bible of late, so nice that now I can turn to you too! xx – Molly
Thanks guys! Molly, yes I’ve read and enjoyed Smitten Kitchen, but I forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder to check it out again. The food blogs I currently follow are listed under “Inspiration” on the right-hand column of this site. Hmmm…I’m not sure I remember which salad you’re referring to. Was it the kale salad with apples, pecans and bacon cider vinaigrette? That recipe was from a magazine, so let me dig it up for you…
thanks for sharing these wonderful recipes–and it is a pleasure to read your writing as well. I think my kids are inspiring me to cook more and we are trying to get away from processed foods as much as possible. I look foward to future posts (and pumpkin dishes perhaps:))
This makes me want to start cooking. (But trust me, you’ll be glad I didn’t.) With my B Day coming up maybe I can convince a family member to make one of these amazing dishes for me! Great job on the photography too!!
Hello Ms. T. Well, I must say, I’m very impressed! I love the recipes and the photography. It looks like a page from Martha’s magazine. This blog has officially been bookmarked and added as my first go to resource for saving my family from eating another one of my wife’s dinners! Of course, you’ll have the decency not to tell her about this posting.
I had one other thought. If at all possible, could you show a picture of the finished dish? I know many of them do, but the photo would inspire me to keep going when I’m frustrated. Two cups of what?! It would be so helpful to for a “guy” who doesnt cook that often.
Hi Ms. T,
I can’t find your email, but wanted to check in about the Food52 potluck. Are you going? Email me! Karen
Hi Ms. T,
I write for POPSUGAR Food, and in the past, we’ve used one of your recipes on our site (with credit + link back). We’d like to get permission to use it again on syndicated content — I can’t find your e-mail address online, so I’d appreciate it if you emailed me back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks so much!
Best,
